Re: Pro and cons
One farm I hunt is just wide treelines and fields. No big woods anywhere close. I thought this would make the deer more predictable, but it didn't. I have actually seen more bucks cross thru the middle of the fields instead of sticking to the cover. I feel we will never have deer figured out, we jus...

Re: What are you going to do differently?
I am doing something different. I am challenging myself to kill a good buck on state land. I have a small parcel of state land I am focusing on. I have put out 2 cameras and have pics of half a dozen good deer. Even more challenging is this wma is archery only except for one week of muzzleloader. We...

Re: Question for BSK
I suspect this is why the teeth from my deer suggest 3.5 but his body looked like 5.5.

Re: Question for BSK
Some background on the area the deer in my other post lived in....the soils are primarily wind blown loess...very heavily farmed with corn and soybeans.
Seems to me this would cause less tooth wear than deer in areas with more rocky soils.

Re: Had some good days in the blind too.
Reelfoot Lake is a very special place. If you ever get an opportunity to go there for a hunt, you have to go. You will see more types of birds and other wildlife than you can imagine. Eagles, pelicans, ospreys, ducks, and geese are constantly in the sky.

Re: Had some good days in the blind too.
It helps when your best friend is a guide. I'm not much of a duck hunter, but I don't turn down an invite.

On a side note, I found this out in the middle of my field. No telling where it came from.
