I have always put in for Catoosa as a bonus buck hunt when I knew my chances of being drawn for Oak Ridge we're next to none. Kinda like rotating between the two. I have always enjoyed hunting Catoosa. Now, I will stay home and hunt and wait to get drawn for Oak Ridge.

Sorry, I don't know much about trolling motors. Sounds like it may have a gap in the wiring that gets wider as it gets hot.

Now here is where I ask a really dumb question. Are you sure it is not the battery going dead under load then recovering .
