2016 / 17 TWRA Proposal

Post by caretaker »

I put this in East Tn hunting because it will affect East Tn. hunters and have little effect on flatlanders.
Although this is at this time just a proposal what are your thoughts?

Well, Sequatchie CO would be relegated back to being a unit B CO, and we lose 2 doe opportunity's in ML season. We do get to take one doe in rifle season at anytime with the change, as opposed to waiting till the 3rd week in Dec to take one. So we in effect lose 2 more deer opportunity's this season if the proposal passes. I say two more BC of losing the buck opportunity last season. Seems we're going way backward in terms of opportunity, and way forward in the ability of political officials to dictate their will upon hunters. IMO, it is just another sad sign of things to come with regard to political pandering run amok.
[Image We score trophies, but every hunt is, to some extent, a way of measuring ourselves.

I have also been seeing some proposal to do away with the 3 inch buck rule and go to if it has nuts its a buck. This is proposed to try to control the harvesting of button bucks as anterless deer or doe. This would require the leaving of the nuts attacked to to the deer during transporting. Some say it would result in a lot of button bucks being left in the woods. ok question which bathroom do transgender deer use?

Huh, not sure about this proposal.
I have land in Overton county, bought it because if was just barely in unit A but still within the range I wanted to drive to own hunting property. With this proposal, it would be unit B.......sigh. :?

But every now and then I hunt a little piece of TVA land in Monroe county and I would be able to kill a doe during gun, which would be ok.

Maybe they'll just leave things the way they are.

I am against most of what is being proposed. It will allow antler less harvest in counties that cannot support it, it will take away a lot of opportunity from those of us that hunt multiple counties (personally I lose 12 doe tags), and it takes opportunity away from youth.

Very bad set of proposals. I will be drafting a letter this week. I will submit it to every newspaper I can along with every commissioner and at every level of the TWRA. I will also post it here when I am finished.
Suck it up.....buttercup!

Well, what do you flatlanders think of the if it has nuts it`s a buck. This may hit you flatlanders in the nuts. I usta go on about goin to unit L and shootin button bucks because they were not counted as bucks. I did this to get at the trophy hunters. I`d say things that could possibly be true like well just got another potential trophy 170 class buck. Yep I got another button buck. I`d say things like if they want to protect the bucks and have trophies they need to let them grow. If it has nuts it`s a buck. A buck is a buck. Never dreamed anyone would listen to me. We may be seeing a lot of buck tags burned on button bucks. I will say this anyone that deliberately leaves a deer ,doe or buck in the woods is Not a hunter. Ok now what are your thoughts.

Kinda thought it over and I propose that if the button buck deal passes that one pass be given across the board. Mistakes will happen on the doe/button identification. Allow one button buck to be checked as a button buck.

I don't think the antlerless buck harvest is high enough to have much negative impact on our herd. I surely hope they do not start counting "any" nuts as bucks. Just another solution to a problem that really doesn't exist.
