How is your season going? Are they very vocal in your area?

Post by Sackett »

Opening morning we got on some that were pretty vocal on and just off the roost. Since then we have not heard much at all. This morning I hunted what is usually my honey hole. I never heard or saw a thing.

Gobbling in the tree, but when their feet hit the ground they are getting lockjaw.

Good on the limb nothing on the ground.. been every morning so far killed my second one this morning gobbled a ton on the limb and never gobbled on the ground just drummed all the way in.. had one bird sneak in quiet Sunday morning until he got high ground about 60 yards and stood there gobbling non stop for 15 mins let him walk without ever calling to him thinking I would move to where he was and call him back… wrong!! He kept hitting other high areas gobbling until he ended up out of hearing..

Gobbling good on limb, a little on ground! Had one this morning that was torn between following hens or coming towards me, so he stood his high point (bout 70 yrds)!and gobbled, pretty good! Called 3 jakes up with in 10 yrds, twice!!!

Sounds pretty consistent with opening week.
I will probably go try a spot on higher up in the mountains tomorrow and see how they play.

Not heard a bird. Usually the end of the second week before they get vocal at the house.

Keep whacking and stacking! You only got 1 more to go ya know. Not counting the three you better kill in NE in a few weeks.

Not found a hot bird yet. Idk what’s going on. I’m either deaf or my birds are mute. Lol. Congratulations.
