Gut Shot

Every deer I've killed I've never gut shot one. Well this morning was a first for me with a crossbow. How long do you wait before you try to track it? Do I do it now or later in the day?

I’ve only gut shot 1 myself. I waited about 2 hours before going to look for her. Found her in about 30 minutes of looking

I would go back around 2 this evening. I sure wouldn’t rush anything but I’d want her found before dark.

Yep, I'd wait till later in the afternoon with hopes of finding her before dark. If possible I've heard min of 4 hours wait before tracking a gut shot deer. Good luck!

I was lucky, when I did it, I hit a main artery and he died in front of me after running 20+ yards. Good luck and don't expect much blood. If you have a dog take it. Trained or not, they love the taste of gut's and should track it.

Shot him about 6:58 at 20 yards waited till about 11:30 to go try to track him down. I tracked the blood for about 200 yards through the woods finally with the help of my wife's cousin we found him about 105 yards behind my stand. It was a lil warm that day but luckily the meat was still good and got alot off him
