Congratulations JCodd! All I saw was a lone yearling. My son didn't see anything. Really slow compared to yesterday morning.

Thanks guys. Kinda beating myself up over how it all went down. Gonna reevaluate my little gun setup. Probably be 243 or 308 the rest of the season

read my 223 thread. It almost cost me the deer. But the shot I made is probably a 1 in 1000 shots occurrence.

No I did not. After skinning and doing a bit of "surgery" I determined I hit the top of the leg bone and deflected out. The hit was not fatal. The neck shots were both fatal

I'm pretty much done for the year. Our buck harvest rule on my family's place is, you can only kill a second buck if it is bigger and older than the first one you killed. Well there aren't any bigger or older bucks than the one I killed! And that's a great problem to have!

I don't have high expectations but I'll probably keep hunting. Sure hate to put my gun back up without firing a shot.

I'd like a small doe for summer sausage. I've yet to use a statewide buck tag, and would like to connect on one.

I ain't complaining, I killed my best buck this year and filled another bonus buck tag on a WMA hunt during muzzleloader, but haven't hunted my normal haunts nearly as much as I'd like.

With the holidays, every weekend is busy, so I'm hoping to slip away before or after work until the season ends.

Good luck everybody! And congrats to those who connected!!
