Ok, here's a start!

Post by MUP »

What's gonna be your set up this season for the archery opener? I'm planning to put up a new stand loc this year in hopes of heading off that beautiful split g2 buck I have pics of from last year. I think I'm closing in on him, and hope that fine tuning another stand loc may put me closer to his sparse travel routes. ;)

I have too Curtis, but I still find myself fine tuning my stand placement from time to time. I think it's b/c of new bucks moving into the area at different times, and not using the exact same travel routes as the others.

Unless I have the scoop on a decent buck in late Sep, I will most likely be hunting near an established Trophy Rock site to put an early season doe in the freezer. Not very exciting or creative, but pretty effective.

I am hoping a particular white oak is producing in a hollow I hunt next to a creek. If so, I will kill every adult deer that comes to it...or try to anyway. I want to fill the freezer before muzzleloader starts!

I went and put a new trophy Rock out today. I am hoping to kill a deer over that rock from the ground. At least that's the plan. Most the time my plans and the deer's plans are not on the same page. I have a couple more spots I want to place some stands buck or a doe I really am not to choose.

Have you ever watched the "Bow Ninja" videos? He has some pretty cool ground hunts that he filmed. Here's a good one.

Found a awesome fence crossing on my lease. Putting up a buddy stand, gonna be in it with my son. Try and get him his first deer with a bow.

I lost my lease from last season. Looks like I'm gonna have to hunt the majority of the season on public ground this year. I've got a few places that have been good in the past. Maybe they will keep producing.

Stood up a ladder stand Saturday on my Rhea County lease. Its deep in hardwoods on a fence crossing, going to be in it on the opener with my 11 year old son. Hoping he will get his first deer with a bow!
