Re: Big buck pics coming!
Decided I’d take half a day off. Not really expecting anything special but it’s that time of year. Been having this deer sporadically on camera and finally laid my eyes on him. He’s not the stud I’m after but I know not to pass an opportunity on a good buck. Got sat at 12:30 and 4 rolled around. Thought to myself, every deer we’ve shot in the evening was right now. Seen movement thru the weeds 150+ yards out. Grabbed the binos and looked and he stepped out in the open. Threw his head up and went to sniffing. Threw the binos and got on the gun. 150 yard shot or so. Ran maybe 30. I never seen him fall but knew he was hurt bad when he favored his leg awful bad. Smelled him before I saw him, but I was looking for blood more than the deer.
Moments before I shot
Fat guy on recovery
Pretty good 8 for myself. 137 pounds.

Thanks guys. This spot is known for some far shots. First deer I killed here was at 192 a few years ago with a cva optima v2. Actually got lucky with the ky windage lol. My oldest killed her first deer here at around 175 yards and this one was right around 150. I’m guessing the way I’ve made my food plot this time they’ve wore it out and this buck has been the most frequent visitor of the better deer I have. It was just a matter of time, unless someone else had the opportunity on a neighboring property. I used a smokeless gun this time around with a 275 fury star tip going 2775fps. Had 2 moa dialed in and held where I wanted to hit. Much like punching paper but with a much better reward. If you look around the middle of the picture you can see where the food plot cuts to left. He had just come out from around the corner when he stopped, threw his head up and back scent checking. He ran to the right across the opening and I found him in the weeds just before the strip of woods.
