The Deed be done

Wayal, Mike243 and WildBill talked me into it. I have ordered my CVA 45/70 Hunter to be converted to a smokeless "Smoke Pole"??? Wow that's a contridiction in words.

I had it shipped to Bud's shop in Sevierville. Dont know what time frame will be with this Dem-Panic.

Plans are for me to take it to Wild Bill and him to take it to Scat. Hopeful I can pick up the rifle by May 28. My Birthday.

Look for me to be completely confused as I don't do well with math.
All I know is 1+1=3 or more when a male and female are involved. ImageImage

Very cool, I'm interested in the final product, looks like a good route to go to get a good smokeless smoke pole.

Wayal, Scat came by and picked up the 45/70 a few days ago. I got a call from Wild Bill and Scatt is taking it to him to mount the scope now that he has finished the machine work. Between the two of them they are scheming up a 45cal. 175 grain bullet pushed by N110 powder. As stated I don't have a clue what thay are talking about. I am just anxious to meet them at thefiring range and try her out.

As stated. WildBill got the CVA from Scatt. He said he mounted the scope and bore sighted it. I don't know the distance but here is the results after a few shots.

45 cal bullet pushed by N110.

Gonna get with Wild Bill Thursday and work up a suitable load.

I can not really give you a cost for the conversion. I have $232 plus tax in the actual purchase of the CVA 45/70. I bought it from Buds and picked it up at there store in Sevierville.

Wild Bill gave me the breech plug from his Savage as he went with a different system. I think he went with a Lehigh plug.
I checked on line and a Savage 10ML-ll breach plug runs around $33.

A friend who has done others did the machine work and did not charge me. He took the 45/70 and drilled and tapped it to accept the breech plug. I do know he was laid off in a major employee cut back and mine may be the last one he does as I don't know if he has access to equipment.

So there in lies the major rub. Finding someone capable of doing the machine work

Met with Wild Bill and tried out the New Smokless 45/70

275 grain Parker Ballistic Extreme pushed by 38 grains of N110.
1.High right
2. A lil to the left
3. &4. Touching in bullseye

Second target
1 a lil high right
2&3 touching bulls eye

100 yds.

I think this gun is trying to make a liar outta me about my marksmanship.ImageImage
