Test loads ready

Post by MUP »

Got some test loads ready for the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 300 WinMag. I had very good results before with superformance and the 140 gr ELD-Ms, and also with StaBall 6.5 and 153 gr ATips. I've loaded those back up, after thoroughly copper cleaning both rifles, and plan to see if they still group with those loads. The WinMag has performed really well with RL 22 and 180 gr NBTs and NABs and the last group I shot, after cleaning that is, netted a .75 group, so, since I've worn .015 off the lands since shooting that load, I'm trying the same powder charge but tweaking the seating depth up and down to see if it tunes better. The rain has moved out but the range(farm range) is muddy so I'll hopefully get out there wed now and see how they shoot!

Post us up some pics when you burn that powder.
The older I get the more I understand why roosters just scream to start their day.

Nothing to write home about for the WinMag seating depth loads. But the old 140 ELD-Ms over superformance showed promise still. Upper left is with .105 jump, and lower right is with .020 jump. Either or would probably work, but I'm leaning toward the long jump loads. 5 shot groups each of them.

That one flier tho, kept it from being a 1 hole group basically.

You should try some VV N570 in that 300 WM. And some 215gr Berger’s!

I've been told time and time again about the Bergers but haven't heard about the VV 570 yet. For now I'll keep on with these Nosler NBTs and NABs, they've shot .44 MOA at 1000 so far as my best grouping to date with them. ;) Terminal velocity not enough to hunt with at that distance tho, so keeping any potential hunting shots at 600 give or take.
