If y’all could offer up a prayer... UPDATE
If y’all could offer up a prayer... UPDATE
I’m at Huntsville Hospital ER with my son. He’s having a bad diverticulitis flare up that could be a perforation. 7 years ago was his first episode with this and he stayed here 5 days. He said that if they want to go ahead and take a section of his colon out he’s gonna let them. That’s how bad he’s hurting. So, if y’all could send a prayer or 2 we really would appreciate it. God bless you all.
UPDATE.......
First, thank you all for your prayers and please continue.
Well, that was the ER visit that nobody wants to make but he survived it, I stayed up all night with no sleep for the first time in 25 years and he's home.
We got there at 7:45pm and only he was allowed in until he was put in an ER room and then I could stay with him. He's a grown man but he's my only child and my best friend. Anyway, there were approximately 20 people in the waiting room and some had been there 8 hours waiting for an ER room. They drew blood almost immediately after he went in. At 2AM he was given registration papers and paid his Co Pay. At 3AM he was put in an ER room, IV was put in and morphine and antibiotics started. Before 4AM scans were done and he waited on the doctor's ruling which we have assumed he would be staying at least a day or 2. 2 docs consult and one confirms the stay. At 4:30 I head home in the pouring rain and I hate driving in the dark when it's raining. 20 miles from the hospital he calls me and says the docs are sending him home so I turn around and go back. At 5:45 we leave ER and head home. He's feeling a LOT better and will be on 2 antibiotics for a while unless he gets worse.
Staying up all night while trying to rest in a car is hard on old folks. I feel like I've been coked up for about 6 days/nights with no sleep but I walked away from that in 1985....

Good luck Wiley with your son. My wife has the same condition. She avoids foods as much as possible that cause it. Popcorn and nuts seem to be the worst for her. If I were him I would use Metamucil daily just to keep everything moving as much as possible and keep the pockets cleared out. Has he identified what is causing it?
If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.

I have a touch of those issues and short of having muscle compartment syndrome in my arm, NOTHING has ever hurt me as bad as that stuff does when it hits. Its so bad at times that I will be doubled over on the commode with holding a trashcan to puke in at the same time. Certain foods can set mine off, the problem is that sometimes I eat something and don't know it and other times the things that tore me up last time don't affect me this time. For the most part, its corn meal that does it to me and corn syrup products.

He don't know what set it off this time and he avoids the same things you mention. I'll talk to him about Metamucil.FLTENNHUNTER1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 11:56 am Good luck Wiley with your son. Glad he's doing better buddy! I feel for you having to stay up like that, that's enough to cripple a man for a few days!

Prayers sent Wiley! Im a second vote for daily fiber regiment. I use the equate sugar free orange flavor 100% Psyllium husk fiber. I heaping teaspoon around 5 every afternoon. My gi dr suggested it probably 30 years ago due to hemorrhoids from hell and polyps.
My dad takes it also. He’s 87 and pretty healthy but does get the occasional diverticulitis flare up.
I hope y’all get some rest

Yup I use the same thing actually. Much cheaper than name brand. I use 2 tablespoons in I'm guessing 16 oz. glass right after supper. All I know is the stuff thickens quick so you better drink it quick. Make sure to take it with enough water; I dare say that stuff will turn to concrete inside you if you don't. That is why I believe it would help with keeping the pockets in the intestines cleaned out because it expands so much.Rob R. wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 2:58 pm Prayers sent Wiley!
