My savage is in the shop right now. Getting a new thumb hole stock and a new barrel to convert it to 45 cal. Sure hope it shoots good. :)

I have a pair. When they discontinued them I freaked out and bought a 2nd one just in case. Getting ready to upgrade the stock on one of them to a thumbhole laminate.

I never could get mine to shoot very well. That is why I am doing the upgrades. Hoping it will shoot good sabotless.

I've read a lot about people converting their 10ML II's to .45 caliber with an upgraded barrel. Both of my 10ML II's seem to shoot well enough in their stock configuration, so I'm not sure why I would do a conversion.

What are the benefits of converting from .50 cal to .45 cal?

CD I tried several loads in my MLII and just never was satisfied with the way the gun shot. I hope it will shoot better after this conversion but still no guarantees.

I don't shoot much during the off season, but I'm 4 miles off 412 not far from Henderson/Madison co line (when I'm there). Nothing fancy-stock .50cal barrel. Don't experiment a whole lot.

West side here, I have 2 conversions as well as a couple buddies who have sml's as well. A west side shoot would be a great idea.

Sig, I got me a smokeless, but have yet to shoot it - got it I think last spring, its a converted H&R 45/70

Heck, I still have that Rem700 ML that I got off you a few years ago, still haven't done anything with it (haven't even shot it, lol)

:D

Y'all doing alright?

Yeah, so far things have been going well out here - we are smack dab in the middle of their holy season of Ramadan, so they tend to get a lil frisky this time of year. I head back for a couple of weeks of vacation starting the end of next week, looking forward to picking up a few new guns that I have acquired :D Still waiting to see what scope I'm gonna put on that Mossberg 4x4 - I have a feeling once the wife sees it she will give me back my Remmy and claim it, lol

I may take you up on that - I take it back, it isn't a H&R, it is a CVA Optima Elite that I have converted. Thinking of going with 60 grains of IMR 4198 with a Hornady 200sst wrapped in a blue harvester sabot. So far I've gotten everything but a powder measurer, powder, and primers - been holding off on that stuff until I'm ready to start shooting it. I will hopefully be able to get more into it starting next year.

Any recommendations on a powder measurer?

For about the cost of the powder cups you can buy a scale & I promise you will have better consistence per shot . its amazing what just a grain or 2 of powder will make .
