Lake Tarpon

As per my routine I dropped my niece off at work and headed to Melton Hill to fish for three and 1/2 hours before going back to pick her up. Caught a few nice fat bream on worms by tight lining. Noticed some swirls and chasing. Hummm........ might be a bass doing that chasing and feeding. I tie on a white rooster tail and give it a toss in the direction of the swirls. On the second cast wham. A hard solid hit. Set the hook. Oh yea, it is on. Oh, it feels like a nice one. I`m thinking, white or yellow bass. Fish is running every where. Finally get a couple of glimpses of the fish. ??? what the heck is it??? Finally get the fish up to the dock and lift it. A Lake Tarpon. Yep I had done went and caught me a big ol` shad. It went a lil over 2 feet in length.
