Had to kill something

I live in the city limits so I can not shoot a gun at home. A large family of groundhogs have moved in next door. I could not help myself. I shot one yesterday at 47 yards by rangefinder. This dog is ready to hunt. Come on September 27

Did you cook it up? Have a friend that swore ground hog was fine eating,never tried it myself but would like to if someone cooked it that knew how.

The worst beating I ever took was over a groundhog.

The beating came from my great grandmother! She used her cane and her walker! She was in her 80's!

I killed a groundhog that was in our cow pasture. This one was extremely wary. If you were on a tractor and the tractor was moving it would stand and watch you. If the tractor stopped, he was gone! We finally parked the tractor within range between the den and the house and snuck out one day and I eased up over the seat and killed him. Now, that's not what I took the beating for. The next thing I did was shove him down in the hole and filled the hole in!

When my great grand mother found out I killed a ground hog and threw it away instead of bringing it to her, she was furious! She said she hadn't had ground hog in years and that was her favorite meal! Up until that point, I had not imagined anyone eating them.

Once she calmed down, and I felt it was safe to come out she explained to me that growing up they ate anything they could catch or kill and that they were too poor to go buy meat.

It was still a hell of a beating though!

They are a little greasy but fairly good eatin fixed like a roast with unyuns,taters and karruts. Hell of a lot better eatin than possum.
