Expensive chainsaw chain sharpening today.

Ive been tasked with clearing some fence rows that haven't been touched in 20+ years. That said, I've been using my only saw, a Stihl ms170. It has done great for what Ive needed so far. Ive occasionally had need for a larger, more powerful saw. I have 2 large locusts that need felled right now...plus the larger trees that sometimes fall on the fences. All that said....

Today I went to my local Echo dealer to get a couple chains sharpened. While he was sharpening them, I got to looking at new saws. Ended up leaving there with a new CS 590 Timber Wolf. Compared to the 170, this thing is a beast. Should be all I ever need. I can already feel it in my back.....what have I gotten myself into....

Yea you definitely going to feel that after a days use! Lol! I've always used Stihl but I've heard Echo makes a good saw.

I think ive used most brands at some time or another. Ive had several Echo products, and never had a problem with them.

I inherited a small Echo CS301, the first of that brand for me. It ran decent when I got it. I tweaked on the fuel mix screw and put a new plug in it. It's one of our favorite saws to use. I liked it enough when I was weed eater shopping this past spring, I bought an Echo brand.

Good luck with your new saw and your cutting. This post reminds me that before green I have to rent a tow-behind man lift and take down the 2 maple trees in my front yard. My back started aching as I typed this.

I have a small Echo with a 14 " bar on it great saw but it does need a tune up

I have the Timberwolf and it's been a great saw, always starts right up. I have a 20" bar but it can handle a 24" bar, plenty of power and an all magnesium crankcase, it's cut up alot of trees.
Keep a greenworks 16" battery chainsaw in my vehicle for little stuff but for serious work the Echo timberwolf is hard to beat.

I make my living using chainsaws, so I sorta know what Im talking about when I say "that saw you picked up today is most likely THE best saw in that size range on the market today BAR NONE".

I've ran nothing but Echo chainsaws, trimmers, and blowers for the last 20 years. Are they as well built as they were 20 years ago ? NO. but the other manufacturers aren't either. I currently have a CS590 and CS400 saws. I have 3 trimmers, 1 of which I purchased in 2001. I have a blower and it is the only one that gave problems. The ignition went out.

MOST OPE has a lifetime warranty on the coil, it might be worth checking into!
