That was a half a lifetime ago but I believe I remember it and thinking these folks are screwed. Giving up nuclear weapons was a big nail in their coffin. US govt assurances to protect other countries means nothing anymore.

What if Uranian whistlin still had the nukeular weapons? Would they have used them on Putin? Or if they still had the weapons would Putin have left them be?
