I just moved to Unicoi County and my property backs up to the Cherokee National Forest and the neighbors have said they have seen bear before and I figured I would give bear hunting a try this fall. I can walk back into the forest off of an old logging road that eventually turns into a hiking trail. It is then another .5 mile up the mountain before the mountain laurel and rhododendron clear out enough to even see through the woods. What kind of tips would you guys give for trying to look for an area to hunt it.

If you are hunting without dogs, I would suggest keying on food sources. Bears leave a lot of sign when they are feeding, find it and set up. Chances are small, but one may give you a shot.
