Love these

Post by Volbuck777 »

Woke up this morning to these sitting on the pond, thought I’d share. I’m not a duck hunter but love to see them on the backyard pond. I get these woodys occasionally but mainly mallards. I’ve seen geese and even a couple hooded mergansers. They all seem to be extremely skiddish on small water.

Absolutely beautiful birds and I've occasionally had a few come flying down Indian Creek on my lease in Hardin County.
The older I get the more I understand why roosters just scream to start their day.

They are beautiful, but I'd have a hard time not having duck poppers for supper tho! LOL

You need a couple of duck boxes along that pond and a little corn along the edges and they'll stay around and maybe even raise you some ducklings to watch. I love to hunt em and eat em but I enjoy watching them and helping them out as much as I can too.

First duck I ever killed on the first duck hunt I went on with the first shot I ever fired at a duck was the woody. I have to agree that it’s the most beautiful duck there is.
