Re: Favorite Caliber?
My Remington CDL .280, it's been my partner for many years now, has never let me down when I want to make a long distance kill...

Re: Favorite Caliber?
It's always been a toss up for me between 7mm-08 and 308Win, but the more I shoot my 6.8
SPC II, the more I fall in love with it.

Thanks LJ, that's my bestus buck ever! I've only ever seen two more while hunting that would match or come close to it in all my years huntin'.

Re: Favorite Caliber?
The biggest part of my rifle kills have came from a .243 it's my dad's and will one day be mine. I haven't hunted with it in a few years. Killed a few with a 7mm mag and a .270 win. I now do most of my hunting with my .300wsm. Flat shooting and plenty of knockdown, more than is needed but can be handy. It can be hard to find ammo for. I want to purchase a 30-06 and a .308. I want to get into reloading and load for all 3 guns. I like the .30 caliber bullets and performance but as far as my favorite I really like the .243

Re: Favorite Caliber?
I like the 7mm-08 cause I can load it down for the kids. But with full power loads and 140gr Sierra Gameking HP it kills well. Also love the the 35 Remington And The 350 Rem. Mag being my favorite.
Re: Favorite Caliber?
I've hunted with a 300 win mag for years, but I refinished a 1917 enfield last summer in 30.06 and hunted with it. So now I'm on the fence about which I like best.
Re: Favorite Caliber?
its hard to pick just 1 killed more deer with a 50 cal cva than any other, 243 savage then my 300wm. hope to add a bunch with my savage muzzle loader this year & maybe 1 with my AR .

30-06 rem 7400. I was also partial to my marlin 35 lever action until it was stolen. Had a winchester model 94 in 30-30 lever action piece of junk.

Re: Favorite Caliber?
270 or 308
Re: Favorite Caliber?
I ran across 700 BDL in 280 the other day it is an early 80s model rifle so I know its a good one. I don't need it but man I can't get it off my mind. Those older remington 700 were fine rifles. And this one looks like a new gun.

I have a new to me Tikka 300wsm stainless I plan on using quite a bit this season.
Re: Favorite Caliber?
Well I acquired the Remington I was talking about at the top of the page. It turned out to be a mountain rifle in 280 rem. it's a sweet Little gun,and I am loading some 120gr nosler BT and it shoots them really well. I hope I am able to kill something with it this season.

I'll always have a soft spot for a peep sighted 30/30, but I really love most of the big bore lever action cartridges. Mainly the .375 Winchester, 45/70, and .444 Marlin.
I do love the 8 x 57 Mauser hand loaded to its full potential also.
