US to reopen, really?

Just watching the local news and they're "reporting" that the US will now be ALLOWING foreigners into the country who HAVE BEEN FULLY VACCINATED, including air, water, and LAND entry. My question, why didn't all these folks who have been reportedly "locked out" of the country just head down to the US/Mexico border and just COME ON IN? Not like those illegals are being required to be jabbed to enter! Geez! How stupid they must think the populace is!

That's EXACTLY what I told my Canadian buddy that was coming here twice a year pre-plandemic to hunt with me! Just fly to Mexico, walk across and rent a car! Unfortunately hes still too scared of the whole political climate to risk coming this year.
